Mango

India is one of the leading exporters of mangoes in the world, known for popular varieties like Alphonso (Hapus), Kesar, Totapuri, and others that are highly valued for their taste and quality. In recent years, India exported over 32,000+ metric tonnes of fresh mangoes worth around US $60 million in 2024, with shipments going to key markets around the globe. Major air and sea export hubs such as Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Chennai play a central role in connecting Indian mango producers with international buyers.

The top destinations for Indian mango exports include the United Arab Emirates (UAE), United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), as well as markets in Saudi Arabia, Japan, Canada, and several European countries. Export growth has also extended into emerging markets across Africa and parts of Asia, reflecting rising global demand for both fresh and processed Indian mango products. Some states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh have seen increased shipments of their mango produce to these foreign markets.

To support and expand exports, Indian authorities and industry bodies like APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) have worked on meeting global phytosanitary standards, including irradiation treatment and quality certifications. Although India produces nearly half of the world’s mangoes, only a small percentage enters the export market because much of the produce is consumed domestically. Continued efforts to improve supply chains, cold‑chain logistics, and market access are helping India grow its presence in the global mango trade.
